Global Reach through Local TOUCH
As an evangelical church, we uphold the Bible as the true word of God, and seeks to align it’s vision, structure and ministries according to the scriptures. At it’s heart, our greatest desire is to be passionate about the things God is passionate about, and to invest it’s fullest energies in the things that please God. We are in our season of “Global Reach through local TOUCH” and we are guided by our COMPASS which is an elaborate exposé into what “Local TOUCH” means to us.

✦ OUR CORE VALUES
OUR CORE VALUES at Nairobi Chapel
We are a faith community intent on “Growing D.E.E.P. to reach W.I.D.E!” .. Our desire is to see that each and every person that God brings through our doors has a life changing encounter and begins to live a life of purpose. That they grow in their relationship with God, and become more Christ-like as His disciple.
Growing D.E.E.P to Reach W.I.D.E
D.E.E.P. (the “how to” of discipleship) stands for the four disciplines central to Christian growth.
D. Daily devotions.
E. eGroups.
E. Engagement in service.
P. Pulpit teaching and Sunday services.
W.I.D.E. (the “what” of our vision) stands for our primary Vision 2020 goals
W. Witness to 1,000,000 people.
I. Impact and change society through acts of mercy and justice.
D. Disciple 100,000 converts.
E. Expand the Kingdom of God by planting 300 churches.
OUR CORE VALUES:
REACH PEOPLE FOR CHRIST - We are committed to helping people find their way back to God. In this confusing, lonely, noisy, alluring world of distraction, the Bible says, “all we like sheep have gone astray”; we have lost our way. In our lostness, many have crafted their own path that supposedly leads them back to their creator. There is therefore no end to religions, religious way, traditions, self-made paths to finding God, even to claims that God cannot be found and does not exist. But he does, and the Bible says of Jesus “I am the way, the truth and the life. No- one comes to God but through me”. Many, many people don’t even know this, so we’re committed to telling people and helping people find their way back to God.
GROW TOGETHER - Once you know God, real transformation happens in an authentic community. And this goes beyond the Sunday Service. Real growth best happens in the context of a small group of friends – where people are real and where they deal with real issues together.
MULTIPLY AT EVERY LEVEL - One of our values is to help each member find their place of service. The bible tells us that when you receive Christ as your Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit gives you a unique gift of service so that you can serve him. Some have the Gift of Mercy, some the Gift of Faith, and some the Gift of Administration.
The gifts the bible lists are many – healing, teaching, giving, prophecy, works, miracles, and many more; but EVERYONE who receives Jesus Christ as their Savior has a gift. So, you need to know yours, become a leader, and use it to serve God. We’re committed to helping you. In this way we hope to raise up leaders at every level off the church the Elders, pastors, ministry directors, volunteers, attenders, etc. And to deploy them to go out and serve God in the church and in their sphere of influence. That’s how God’s Kingdom grows, and that’s how we’ve ended up leading many, many people to Christ, and planting many, many new churches all over Kenya and Africa.
EMPOWER THE NEXT GENERATION - Tomorrow’s leaders in the church and the nation are today’s young people. So investing in them is investing in the future. We have got to invest in their moral character and give them an unshakable anchor for their values. Jesus once gave a parable off a man who built his house on sinking sand as opposed to a solid rock. The world has many shifty sands it offers our young people to build their lives upon . . . but there is only one Rock – Jesus. When our values and morals are anchored to him, we have values that will see us through life. Your children and teenagers will grow in their faith at the Chapel.
KEEP PRAYER AT THE CORE - When it comes to God’s work, everything we do should be the outcome of prayer and dependence on God. Our best planning and strategy can only go so far if not ordained and guided by God. As a church, we therefore encourage personal prayer through a daily devotion time, weekly devotional prayer guide, and monthly fasting guides. We encourage our members to be in constant prayer and we ask the small home groups to set aside time for prayer during their meetings. That’s not enough; every Wednesday evening and every last Friday evening of each month we gather for a time of extended prayer and worship; and every last week of the month we declare a season of fasting and praying for the nation and of our church. The Bible asks, “When Jesus returns, will he find faith on earth?” We’d like to say a resounding YES! because hopefully he’ll find us in prayer.
RELEASE RESOURCES INTO THE COMMUNITY - We are called to be a ‘city on a hill’ – a place of hope and refuge and a ‘lamp that sheds light abroad’. A good part of our people in Kenya live in poverty, so as Nairobi Chapel, we’ve resolved to continuously serve the communities that surround us with compassion, love and understanding. Through our Social Justice Ministry, we assist designate a specific part of our financial resources to care for children in need of school fees; a medical clinic in Korogocho, primary schools for the poor, self-help income generating tracts, and other ways off caring for those in need. However resources are not just about money, they’re also about skills, counsel, careers, connections, gifts in kind, and opportunity among others. And poverty is not just economic either – there is a poverty that is lack of hope, lack of friends, isolation, skills, and other such needs. We want to leverage all our resources, in cash and in kind, to help anyone in need.
✦ STATEMENT OF FAITH
STATEMENT OF FAITH What We Stand For
The Church owns no denominational bonds but regards all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as members of the one Body of Christ in common with themselves. It therefore welcomes in the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit all believers in Christ irrespective of race provided they are sound in the Faith and seeking to live godly lives in Christ Jesus....
The Divine Inspiration, Authority, and Sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures. 2 Tim. 3:15-17; I Pet. 1:10-12; 2 Pet 1:20-21; Psalm 19:7-11. 2.
The Unity of the Godhead with the distinction of Persons in that Unity, namely the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal, to whom equal honor is due. Deut. 6:4; Gen. 1:2,26; John 1:12; John 5:17,22,23; John 14:25,26;John 16:7,27,28; Phil. 2:6; Heb. 1:1-3,8.
That the Son of God truly became man, begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and His righteousness is imputed to all believers. John 14:3; Rom. 4:22-24; Rom. 8:3; Gal. 4:4; Matt 1:20-25; Luke 1:35.
That His death was a sacrifice to God, and a propitiation for the remission of the sins of His people. Rom. 4:25; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 9:24-28; Heb. 10:12-14.
That He was raised from the dead. Matt. 28:5-7; 1 Cor. 15:20.
That He ascended to the right hand of God, and is now the all-sufficient High Priest of His people. Mark 16:19,20; Luke 24:50,51; Acts 1:9; Eph. 4:8-10; Heb. 4:14-16; Heb. 7:25.
That He will come again to receive His people unto Himself and to set up His Kingdom John 14:3; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Luke 1:32,33; Isaiah 9:6,7; Dan. 2:44,45; Dan. 7:13,14. 4.
That in consequence of the fall of Adam, man became “lost” and at “enmity against God”; that he is also “without strength” to do the will of God: Psalm 53:2,3; Luke 19:10; Rom. 3:19; Rom. 5:6,12-19;
The need of the Holy Spirit’s work in regeneration and sanctification John 3:5-8; John 16:8-11; Tit 3:4-7; 2 Thess. 2:13,14; 1 Pet. 1:2.
That the justification of the sinner before God is by faith alone Rom. 3:21-26; Rom. 4:4,5; Rom. 5:1; Gal. 2:16. 1.
That every justified one is also born of God: John 1:12,13; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:23. 2.
That such new birth should result in and be made evident by holiness of life and good works: Eph. 2:10; Eph. 4:24; Titus 3:4-8.
That at Death the spirit of man does not cease to exist or become unconscious. Eccl. 12:7; Luke 16:19-31; Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 5:6-8.
That the dead will be raised either to life or to condemnation and that the blessedness of the righteous and the punishment of the unrighteous will be alike eternal: 1 Cor. 15:51-57; Phil. 3:20,21; Rom. 14:9,10; 2 Cor. 5:10; Dan. 12:2; Acts 17:31; Rev. 20:11-15.
That Satan is a real personality. He was created perfect by God and given power, but through pride he fell and became the father of sin, the arch-enemy of God and of the souls of men Job 1:6-7; Ezekiel 28:14-15; Isaiah 14:12,13; 1 Peter 5:8.
The Church owns no denominational bonds but regards all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as members of the one Body of Christ in common with themselves. It therefore welcomes in the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit all believers in Christ irrespective of race provided they are sound in the Faith and seeking to live godly lives in Christ Jesus.
✦ Growing D.E.E.P to reach W.I.D.E
Growing D.E.E.P to reach W.I.D.E To live a life of purpose.
We are a faith community intent on “Growing D.E.E.P. to reach W.I.D.E!” Our desire is to see that each and every person that God brings through our doors has a life changing encounter and begins to live a life of purpose. That they grow in their relationship with God, and become more Christ-like as His disciple.
D.E.E.P for us means -
Daily Devotions: Nothing causes personal spiritual growth like developing the discipline of reading God’s word daily and listening to his leading and direction for the day. So we work hard at helping our members learn how to listen to God for themselves on a daily basis. eGroups: Spending time with others who love the Lord, studying his Word, praying for each other and growing together is one other sure way to grow rapidly in our walk with God.
Our desire is that each member of our church be in a small, home fellowship bible study, which we call an eGroup (E stands for Ecclesia which is the Greek word used in the bible for “Church”).
Engagement: God has given each Christian a special mix of gifting to uniquely bless his people with. The Bible calls these “Spiritual Gifts”. You have one, I have one, and when you use yours, God specially empowers you to bring about results that will blow you away, results that also grows you as you see God using you among his people in his own unique way.
Pulpit: The pulpit symbolises Sunday gatherings for us is the place of celebration, worship, gratitude to God.
Teaching from His Word, friendships and joy. Sunday service is a weekly event to look forward to… and boy does the Chapel pulpit grow you! W.I.D.E is our vision for where we want to go Witness: To witness to one million people. To do this we have to creatively engage different avenues, media, crusades or whatever means possible to get the task done Impact: Social impact that will change the lives of our people significantly, especially of the poor and needy around us. We can bring about social impact via two different ways; firstly is by working closely with the poor to alleviate poverty; and secondly is by each being faithful disciples of Christ in the specific sector of society he has placed us.
We talk about the six sectors of society being the arts and media; business and commerce; governance and politics; church and religion; science and medicine; and finally family and education. Everyone works in one or more of these sectors, and if we were all faithful disciples shining for Jesus and justice where He’s placed us we would change this world. Discipleship: Our commitment being to disciple 100,000 people outside of Chapel into spiritual maturity. That means we would have to publish materials, books and curriculum that others can use to grow people. Establish: Establish and plant 300 Churches.
✦ Our TOUCH
Our TOUCH Global Reach through local TOUCH
Our mission is to share God's love, grow in faith, and make a positive impact in the world through compassionate outreach and meaningful connections. Global REACH through Local TOUCH is how we achieve this.
The realization of this vision has resulted in the need for Nairobi Chapel Ngong Road to chart a new path beyond 2020. This process began in the year 2019 but was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. By God’s grace over the past two years, the Nairobi Chapel-Ngong Road Church Leadership has developed this document built on the theme “Global Reach through the Local TOUCH.”
TOUCH is an acronym that describes our key focus areas as detailed below:
TEAMS represents our desire for the church to be more FUNCTIONAL. We seek to adopt a volunteer-led ministry model towards the proper functioning of the church, supported by structures, guidelines and a robust leadership development process.
ONE-ON-ONE represents our desire for the church to be more RELATIONAL. The church seeks to focus more on Personal Evangelism and Discipleship. We seek to move our focus from the Sunday service to the rest of the week. We seek to shift from focusing on programs to people. We strive to make disciples by building relational con- nections, and seek to pursue personal evangelism within our centers of influence.
UNDER 18, represents our desire to be more INTERGENERATIONAL. The church endeavors to invest in the next generation. We desire to strategically and intentionally build significant and purposeful interactions between all ages in line with God’s mandate for one generation to take what they have learnt and pass it on to the next generation. We desire to see faithful disciples across generations for many generations to come.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH representing our desire to be more MISSIONAL. We intentionally seek to go beyond meeting the spiritual needs of our immediate neighborhood to engaging in their physical, emaotinal and economical wellbeing. Our neighborhoods consist of residential communities (formal & informal settlements), schools, colleges, Sports Stadia, a Prison, the car Bazaar, commercial & business premises and other institutions.
HEALTH represents our desire is to be more TRANSFORMATIONAL. We seek to have a transformational impact on the minds, bodies, spirits and relationships of our congregants and community. We seek to address the growing dysfunctions in society seen in the increased mental health challenges, identity crisis, post-modern world views and relational difficulties. The church seeks to provide an environment of healing and well-being of individuals towards the restoration and establishment of a healthy family unit.
